4 Insider Tips for Finding the Best Luxury Apartments in Boston

4 minute read
Boston Luxury Apartments

Renting a Boston luxury apartment can seem overwhelming. There’s a lot to look at, and how do you compare several excellent options? It can be difficult to narrow down the search. Here are some ways you can manage your list of potential luxury apartments for rent and discover what is important to you in an apartment — and what isn’t.

1. Location, Location, Location

Many Boston luxury apartment complexes offer similar amenities and quality service. However, they each have a unique location. Before considering any other factor, look at location first. Are there any locations you are absolutely against renting in? Cross marginally located apartments off your list. Try to narrow it down to the top three areas for you as there are over 300 Luxury Buildings in the Greater Boston Footprint.

Are there locations that are ideal for you that would make your commute to work shorter or position you nearby to friends and those close to you? Put those locations at the top. Take into consideration what roommates or other people that will be living with you. Look at maps and figure out what most important for all of you. Most of the time the top priority for most renters is distance to work as it often consumes the greatest amount of commute time. Finding a happy medium will ensure that everyone is happy and that usually translates living in a certain place for a longer period of time.

2. Prioritize Your Amenities

Luxury apartments in Boston offer the choicest of amenities. Which ones are most important to you? Are you a fitness buff who enjoys going to the gym every day? In that case, you can put apartment complexes with fitness centers at the top of your list. Do you want to be able to swim often in the summer? Or, do you hate scraping snow and ice off your car during harsh Massachusetts winters? If so, look for a complex that has heated underground parking. You may not find an apartment complex that has every amenity you’re looking for, so it’s important to identify the ones that would benefit you the most. If you don’t read often, a built-in library isn’t going to make or break your deal — but you should know what will.

3. Know What Floor Plan You Want

Some Boston luxury condos offer a wide range of apartment styles, including two, three, and four bedroom floor plans. Others offer only studio and one-bedroom apartments. Each apartment will be laid out differently too. Knowing ahead of time what kind of floor plan would work best for you can help you eliminate apartment complexes that don’t fit your needs.

Are you a clothes junkie? Look for a floor plan with ample closet space in the master bedroom. Get up often in the night? Pay attention to how close the bedroom is to the bathroom when you’re looking at floor plans. You should also consider East facing views as opposed to West facing views. Early risers often prefer East facing views so they get sunrises. Night owls often prefer West facing views for sunsets. What matters to you depends greatly on your personality, style, and hobbies. Choose a floor plan that works with your lifestyle.

4. Tour Apartments, But Don’t Fall In Love — Yet

Once you’ve decided on a handful of luxury apartments in Boston to check out, it’s time to request a tour. It can be hard to walk into a stunning apartment and not fall in love right away, so it’s important that you put your logical hat on and avoid being swooned. Remember that the apartment manager wants to get you into their apartment, and they’ll be working hard to sell you. Bring a pad of paper and a pen to your tours and write down what you love and don’t love while you’re going through the space — don’t wait until later to write them down, because you may not remember. Don’t make a decision until you have a chance to sit down with your notes and compare them.

Renting a Boston luxury apartment is a big investment and it’s not one that you want to rush into. Take time to really explore your options so you can be confident about your final choice. Boston Pads can help you find the luxury apartment of your dreams — reach out to us today.
