Water is impossible to miss on a map of Lakeville, where Assawompset Pond, Long Pond, Pocksha Pond, the Quittacas ponds, and numerous smaller bodies of water occupy a large portion of town. Routes 18 and 105 provide the principal north-south connections, and both reach I-495 near northern Lakeville. Town Hall and many municipal services are located along Bedford Street, while local businesses and residential areas follow the main roads and extend around the pond system. The former Middleborough/Lakeville commuter rail station has been replaced by an MBTA station just beyond the town line, so regional rail remains accessible without a station currently operating inside Lakeville. Ted Williams Camp at Loon Pond is a major local recreation area with athletic fields, courts, recreation space, and water access, while Clear Pond and Tamarack Park provide additional outdoor options.
