South Lincoln is the practical center of town, with the MBTA commuter rail station, local businesses, post office, and other services located around Lincoln Road. Route 117 crosses this area and connects with Route 2, which handles much of Lincoln’s regional car traffic. Farming remains unusually visible for a town this close to Boston: Codman Community Farms operates near the station, while Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary combines a working farm with nearly 300 acres of fields, forest, wetlands, and trails. Lincoln also contains extensive conservation land and portions of Minute Man National Historical Park, creating large breaks between its residential areas. Town offices and schools sit north of the station along Lincoln Road rather than inside a traditional downtown business district. South Lincoln provides the transit and service hub; a short distance away, the landscape changes to farms, protected land, and residential roads.
