Public Education in Framingham
Education has a long history in Framingham dating back to 1706, when the first schoolmaster was hired. Despite this, the city of Framingham did not have a public school building until 1716. Framingham Historic Village Hall, located at 2 Oak Street, was built in 1834 to serve as Framingham’s second town hall. It faces the southern edge of the Centre Common. Last used as the town hall in 1891, this Doric columned building is now a rental venue for weddings and other special occasions. It is able to accommodate up to 180 guests.
The Old Academy, which now houses the Framingham Historical Society, is located at 16 Vernon Street. It is a stone structure built in Greek Revival style with a columned front entrance. If there is any style of beer or ale you would like to try, they have their own custom samples on offer. The kitchen prepares sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, wood-fired pizza, and salads. They offer innovative as well as traditional variations on pub food, such as The House Sausage & Ricotta Pizza that includes pistachio pesto, broccolini, and cherry peppers. Their chicken wings are wood fired in their pizza oven. The house cheeseburger includes green chili and fried onions.
Nzuko
Nzuko is located at 341 Cochituate Road. They offer organic, fresh food: chicken, pork, salmon, and lamb, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes.
