Jonathan Belcher House

This house reflects the history of the turn of the 19th century. Jonathan and Abigail Belcher built it in 1806. After generations, the house was given to Abigail Tower Tarbell. In 1911, she gave it to the Ladies Library Association. Now this place is called the Randolph Women’s Club. This place is open to the public and is definitely worth visiting. People can also rent it for weddings.

Ponkapoag Camp Of Appalachian Mountain Club

The Ponkapoag Camp of Appalachian Mountain Club is located on the eastern side of Ponkapoag Pond. There are 20 cabins on the campsite and they are dispersed through the camp. They each can accommodate 4-6 people with bunks and mattresses. Visitors must supply their own sleeping bags. The cabins have outhouses and wood burning stoves. Firewood is available for purchase, or may be collected from the deadfall around the cabins. This is a unique opportunity to experience a rustic wilderness environment while only a short distance from downtown Boston.

There is no electricity and you have to bring your own water. The camp rules permit you to use water from Ponkapoag Pond. However, they advise you to not drink directly from it as that water is untreated. They recommend bringing your own water supply. If you want to disconnect from your city life, and want some relief from its normal fast pace, then this is the place you should go. The reason why this place is on the National Register of Historic Places is that two of the camps, including Folsom Cabin, date back to 1920.
