About Downtown Boston

Downtown Boston includes many historic sites, the Financial District, Theater District, Chinatown, and fantastic stores and restaurants. This is where a tour of Boston should begin because this was the nexus of American democracy. Though the area is surrounded by modern buildings, visitors can still feel the energy of our founders in the Boston soil. From the first farmland that became the oldest park in America-Boston Common- to the Puritan settlements that sprang up around it, Boston has inspired people. It is no wonder that so many people want to put down roots here.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Follow the Freedom Trail to the site where patriots such as James Otis and Samuel Adams encouraged colonists to fight for freedom. Since 1742, Faneuil Hall has been a meeting place for the citizens of Boston and a thriving marketplace. Downtown Boston has a myriad of upscale stores and restaurants, but Faneuil Hall is listed as one of the top 10 tourist spots in the U.S. The Quincy Market Colonnade was the first food hall in America and each offering entices people to try a different cuisine. Outside the hall, visitors are entertained by local musicians and amazing street performers. People can easily lose track of time and spend the day enthralled by the entertainment, shopping, and delectable treats.

Shopping in Faneuil Hall Marketplace

There are over 40 stores in and around the Hall, so it might be a good idea to plan your day.

  • A Hat for Every Head has hats for every taste and every season.
