About Mission Hill

Though only a ¾ square-mile neighborhood, The Boston Globe listed it as one of the top 25 “Best Zip Codes in Massachusetts.” This little area is bursting with life due to the number of rentals, amount of public transportation, availability of food stores, terrific restaurants, and proximity to colleges and universities. And despite its small size, there are still some lovely green spaces available for some quality outdoor time.

Restaurants

Yellow Door Taqueria

California inspired Mexican cuisine with a Mexican street food twist and trendy cocktails are featured at this cozy restaurant and bar. Their corn tortillas are gluten free and made fresh daily. They have tacos that are out of the ordinary such as chili duck and scallop frito.

Green Haus Café

Owned by a Vietnamese family, this café incorporates the best of Southeast Asian coffee culture with internationally inspired sandwiches. Brunch is all day so try a Lox’n Loaded bagel one day and a pepperoni pizza bagel the next.

The Mission Bar and Grill

This popular restaurant serves classic American food and weekly specials. The bar offers over 26 draft beers, and they rotate the choices with seasonal specials. These are not the usual sandwiches; they add a variety of luscious toppings.

Flames

Have a spicey Caribbean experience to warm you on a cold day. Their bright colors and vibrant artwork are reminiscent of a sunny beach. Choices include Caribbean favorites such as jerk chicken and curried goat and many creative vegetarian options.

Lilly’s Gourmet Pasta Express

This is definitely not pasta from a box. Lilly D’Alelio brought her gourmet pasta skills from Italy and still uses healthy ingredients to make incredible pasta. Loyal customers rave about their gnocchi Sorrentina and rigatoni puttanesca.

Ginger Exchange

This is Asian comfort food at its finest – fresh ingredients, high quality seasonings, and no MSG. Their food is never microwaved; they stir-fry, steam, and pan-sear. They also take pride in their variety of options, so even vegetarians and gluten-free customers have what they like. Lunch specials such as Hot Stone Bibimbap and Thai Red Curry will perk up even a dull day.

Entertainment

Slades Bar & Grill

Since 1935, Slades has been providing Boston with soulful sounds and great food and drinks. Make every evening special with their great entertainment lineup of music and comedy. And while you are enjoying the show, try some of their famous BBQ ribs.

The Puddingstone Tavern

In addition to the large beer menu, this tavern has a lovely patio for those warm summer nights. Locals love the trivia night where they can form their own teams or join a table.

Green Space

McLaughlin Woodlands and Orchards

Seven acres of this beautifully wooded area is on the southern side of the neighborhood and is known for its variety of trees – elm, bitternut hickory, red oak, and black and honey locust. There are also apple trees that are from 30 to 100 years old. These ancient trees are the descendants of Peter Parker’s colonial orchard.

Kevin W. Fitzgerald Park

Covering 5.5 acres, this green space offers magnificent views of Mission Hill and the Boston skyline. In fact, many locals report that this park has some of the best views in Boston. The puddingstone boulders that dot the park are a reminder of the quarry that used to cover this part of Mission Hill. This is a pet friendly area, so dogs love this park as much as their humans.

Rental Options

Renters also have a choice of building styles from ultra-modern to renovated historic structures that have retained their authentic charm. Both inside and out, these buildings have fabulous amenities. Additional amenities that help you enjoy the outdoors are picnic areas with grills, dog parks, courtyards, and roof decks. And these are just a few of the perks in these impressive apartment buildings.
